Comedy is serious business

What your work means to us

Writing is brave.

It is a wild thing to do, to make the invisible visible and tangible. We’re writers, too! We understand the craft (and sometimes the tears!) that goes into starting and finishing a work of fiction, no matter the length. We care about your unique voice, and we value its place in the world.

Our Values

Like you, we’ve struggled with how murky the publishing business can be. That’s why our core value is transparency. We will provide:

  • Clear explanation of project cost to the press line-by-line, what “earning out” means for your particular project, and how royalties work.

  • Plain language contracts, to the extent legally possible.

  • Clear terms with clear division of labor (getting published is not where the writer’s work ends!)

  • Our ground rules for professionalism and collaboration.

In the coming months, we will outline this in a “How We Work” page. Stay tuned!

And you might have guessed our other core value by now: communication. We may over-communicate, but our aim is that our writers are never in the dark. You shouldn’t have to nudge to know where we are. This is a business: on both sides of the table.
